All,

I have a 1993 Disco 2.0 MPI that has been off the road for months now due to the fact it won't start. It was fine until the battery went flat but after full recharge I am getting no spark and no fuel. I suspect it's immobiliser related but despite getting a new fob which is programmed to the vehicle it's still the same. I have had a garage look at it and spoke to an auto spark but to no avail.

Is there anyone in the Ormskirk / Preston area that may be able to help? If I don't get it sorted soon I am afraid it is destined for the scrapyard!!

Could it be ECU related??

Any other ideas??

Thanks

D

Are you saying that the auto electrician has looked at it and can't get it going?

It sounds like it just needs the immobiliser bypassing.

He didn't look at it, he said that this models immobiliser doesn't cut the fuel and spark off, it stops the starter cranking the engine over.

He couldn't help and didn't think coming out to look would be worth it.

I have no idea whether he is right or not. The mechanic who looked at it also didn't seem to know how to bypass the immobiliser if indeed this is the issue.

Getting desperate now, would be a shame to scrap it!!

FFS don't scrap it if it's got a good body on it!

It's only a garden ornament at the moment and if I can't get it going it will have to go!!

Could I just take a live off the battery to the fuel pump and the coil or is it more sophisticated than that??

That'll pretty much do it mate. If it has live to the ECU, then it should run at that :)

Hi Dave , did you manage to get you mpi sorted out, i have the same problem ish mine wont turn over gets no feed to the starter solenoid , the red led under the radio does not come on at all either, could really do with just getting rid of the immopbiliser altogether as its going to be used as a project .
Cheers Dev.
