My 93 RRC killed its alternator so got on and changed it and changed all the drive belts (what a mother of a job!), anyway the car had been standing some time so come start up time the battery just wasn't up to it.
So remove battery to charge in the house as the car is on the road, after full charge (overnight + a bit) refitted battery, all lights come on and no starter  not a click no nothing!

I am guessing that the immobiliser has well and truly immobilised me but haven't a clue how to get it working... any ideas from you guru's ?

Just to add that I have always had to use the key in the doorlock to open the car as the fob doesn't work the locking system ( is that a clue?)

Cheers

I had a 1993 'K' 3.9 RRC Vogue SE, EAS, LPG, Leather etc etc etc.....

I used the key in the lock as when the remote was used , the doors would open, then lock again due to a dodgy mechanical linkage in the Passanger Front Door causing it to bounce back into the lock position and hence locking the whole car again....

When I locked the car with the remote, if I unlocked with the key, the alarm would go off, if I locked with the key and unlocked with the remote all was cool with school.

So in my opinion, if it was locked with the Remote and then you changed the battery then tried the key, it could still be waiting for a remote signal to unlock/remobilise the car and do its magic.

Not sure if the RRC had an immobiliser or not but I am pretty sure mine didn't.....unless mine either didn't work and allowed the car to start all the time, or I was lucky and it worked faultlessly its just that I always did things in the correct order to remobilise the car....

Oh and when I did need to resync the keyfob due to flat battery.....I am pretty sure all I did was press one of the buttons a few times (5-6 I think) when standing next to the car to resync it....

Sure I read that somewhere....

Yep I thought the same about a dodgy inhibitor switch but even after extensive "waggling" still nothing...... It is the factory fitted immobiliser unit and not an aftermarket....

I'm going through the exact same problems, but I get an alarm, could be that the sounder is just broken. If you do have an alarm the box is located just behind the washer tank and about 7 inches long.

Because my fob to unset it doesn't work, i've had to book it into my local indy to unset it and pair the new fob up.
