Help identify a part

Adjusting the choke today and found this, any clues as to what it is and should one end be attached to anything??

Flame trap maybe? Where do the pipes go to/from?

one end just seems to rest on the engine block the other i will trace, goes down past the dissy...

What u have your hand on is a Fuel Trap and mounted vertically on the block via the bracket, I don't know that matters but IIRC the right angle end is up the top, and as for the hoses IIRC one goes to the dizzy the other to the left hand carb (N/S when it left the factory.).
But if things are running ok with out it fitted etc etc but u may have to plug a couple of holes.

Don't think I'm wrong but I'm going back to when I fitted carb V8 into Capri

I would think so, how about here LH carb circled in yellow

No doubt something to do with emissions then, and what it do? not a lot now

ive got one fitted on my v8 90, I will have a look in the day light and report back !
