Help! How Do I Turn Main Beam on Without My Fogs?!

:doh: This is probably going to be the stupidest, most embarsassing question ever posted! I have just bought a Defender, but I can't figure how to turn main beam on! There is a switch below the indicator stalk which when flicked to the first position turns my sidelights on and then in the second position dipped beam and fog lights. To turn the main beam on I flick the indicator stalk forward but I can only do this when teh other switch is in the second position and the foglights are on!? Its quite embarassing driving home from work p***ing everyone off because my rear foglight is on. Its also quite dangerous because the fogs dazzle other drivers. How the hell do I turn main beam on without my sidelights or foglights?! Help...?:eek:

right one turn your rear fog light off down by your heated rear screen and hazards switch by your right knee area when driving

and two your side lights are meant to be on when your main beam is on
 
Well I'm confused? you are not supposed to be able to turn your main beam on without your dipped headlights on, unless you mean you are trying to use your main beam to flash someone, then you pull the left hand stalk towards youl. - Still confused
 
rear fog light is on the right hand side of steerin' collumn (small paddle lever) behind the window wiper lever... push forward for on and back for off.
Lights are on left side (small lever) behind the indicator lever. For just side lights push small lever forward once, for headlights push forward again. If ye want high bean on all the time, push the indicator lever forward.. to turn off pull it back one... to flash somebody, pull it back again and let go.
 
those little lights at the front above the indicator are on even with headlights are on they are you=r side lights but they stay on wen beams are put on!
by fogs do u mean like wipacs/spots?
 
Cheers guys! I feel so stupid! I didn't notice the fogligth switch down by my knee so they came on everytime I pushed the indicator forward to turn main beam on. I didn't realise that the sidelights were also meant to be on regardless. No, I don't have any spotlights it was just the rear foglight that was dazzling people behind me!
