HELP: How do i tell the difference between Axles

Hi

I have a spare axle for my series 2 and I'm not sure if it is a front or rear axle, how do you tell the difference?

The back one is black and the front one is a brown colour

I'm sorry if you think my question is "taking the ****" i have looked in my manual and the drawings look the same. I would look on the landy but at present it is stuck in a field.

I thought forums like this were meant to be used as helpful aids where people can share problems and answers not as a place for more experienced people to place sarcastic comments to other peoples questions.

just think -
1) do you have front or rear steering?
2) does the axle have swivels to turn the wheels?
3) do the maths!

Ok sorry it dosnt have swivels to turn the wheels but then it is only the axle it dose not have the half shafts and hubs on..

reet - lets start agin, Sideboard bob.

you say it is a spare axil?

1) look at yo back axle
2) look at yo front axil
3) which axil does it most likely resemble?


if that dont work see what way the wheels turn and if its wrong, turn the axil around.

well if its stuck in a feeld - it dont matter if its front or rear, coz it aint goin on his motor till he removes it from the feeld - then he can look

oh ok i'll tell yer.the front has a brake pipe fer each side and teh rear has a TEE piece fitted to the diff cover.

And its black under that sprinkling of rust

and the front is shorter
