i have changed the head gasket on my landrover discovery after it broke down (overheated) i took the head of had it skimmed and presure tested used all new gaskets and new bolts .put everthing back to the book
turned it over but it seems like there is no compresion i have taken the rocker of and everthing seams to be working correctly .
when i turn the key it just wizzez over and nothing can any one help please

stuck rings another possible if it really cooked and was left- check everything and when happy tow it up the road if easy start won't get it going.

hi did not adjust the tappets just put all back together as took apart
put head back on to the 2 raised locator pins on block

why not they need doing anyway once disturbed especially after head skim as they will now be pushing valves more open

There's a first time for everything, me and JM aggree. If you've had the head skimmed by say 20 thou and you've not adjusted the tappets, all of the valves will be held off seat, hence no compression.

presumably you looked at bores while head was off for signs of seizing ,adjust by number nine method using 8 thou feel guauge between valve cap and rocker should slide with small resistance turn engine clockwise as from front wind over till one rocker just comes to fully open count rockers from front ie 4 then check rocker clearance on 4 from nine
= 5 ,6down 3 etc if you think you missed fully down then keep going and do another it will come round again mark each one as you set them
