Help- engin cuttin out.

Hi all, new member here lookin for advice.

My '95 disco 300tdi starts ok, runs ok the suddenly cuts out just as if somebody has turned the lights off!. This is scary when Im just drivin along, battey & oil light comes on. I try to restart, engin turns but wont go, sit scratchin my head for 10 min and try again, hey presto it starts first time and runs ok. This has happened about six times now and is gettin more frequent. Ive changed fuel filter and cleaned fuel stop solenoid
contacts, tried draining sedimeter but nylon screw broke off. Its done 78k miles, any suggestions please.

Wot about crap in the tank blocking the feed pipe?

Wire to the stop solenoid shorting or contacts dirty?

Could be an fault in the electronic fuel pump maybe? It's linked to an immobiliser cut-off switch (sealed unit), which is also linked to the alarm (if you have one).

I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will have other advice.

try a search for "spider unit" my mate had a problem like this the unit was toast, fitted the wiring harness that takes this out of the system, disco started first time and doesn,t cut out any more, his played up every time he used it of late
It started as an intermittent fault. cost £5.06 from craddocks, good luck fella
