Cambelt snapped last night-strange as only changed 10000 miles ago.
Took it all apart this morn, and injection pump will turn a bit then locks up!
Any one know if pump part number ERR 6727 will fit my 300 tdi VA 537740.Or does anyone have a pump for sale?
Cheers in advance

have you tried it with a spanner as pump does feel like your windinding a large spring that locks but will go over then do the same thing it might be normal

do you have lipped crank sprocket ,or lipped tensioner ,needs to be crank sprocket only as driver sprocket needs to steer belt

Pump will turn over with ratchet and socket, like a spring, but there is 2-3mm endfloat on the shaft- normal?

some endfloat is normal is it really 2-3 mm as afew thou can feel alot ,is belt frayed along edges or clean break ,as even with lipped sprocket other alignment issues could be there ,clean break would indicate not alignment but belt or other

cant help you with that ,whereas there aint much i havent rebuilt on landies, pumps i get my brothe rinlaw to do as hes specialist ,but if belt has oil on it would seem likely ,but exact cause is useful to find

Bio eats most rubbers James, belt is not wet all over but there are traces and a small amount by wading plug hole-too thin to just be oil-need to find viton seal now-will try scribing pump with diamond file before nut removal,so can put back exactly.Thank you very much for your support and quick responses

Sorry to hear you've had more car trouble. Its not been a good year for you has it. Hope you get it back on the road without it costing you the earth.

sorry to hear about you belt snapping, if you do find a supplier for the front seal can you post a link as i want a couple myself.

cheers.

Will post link once I have found out what size seal it is,simply bearings do a lot of viton seals, just not sure at the moment what size it is.Tomorrow I plan to scribe mark the drive flange relative to the shaft, then remove the flange to expose the seal, dig it out and measure the o/d-i/d and thickness, and get some on order

Yeah but these ones are awkward as no woodruff key, drive flange sits on a taper shaft-got to make sure it goes back on right
