Don't know if this is a common problem or not, but I have an issue with my brakes. When the ABS light is on the brakes are working ok (most of the time), but when it is off the brakes don't work properly, there is alot of grinding like the ABS is coming on and it's difficult to get the car to slow down without stamping on the brake. Don't know if I've explained myself properly but any advice would be gratefully received. Have been told it is either a sensor or a solenoid, but I have no idea.

No **** sherlock, what do u think I'm trying to do, that's why I'm after advice on what it could be because I've tried 3 mechanics and they don't know what it is.

It,s a disco 300Tdi, and no **** sherlock ,to the person who says get it fixed, what the hell do u think I'm trying to do?

Chill ... getting hostile will not get you the help & advice you need to remedy your brake problem .... read this, don't get hostile and hopefully your problem will get sorted:)

firstly if the car wont stop you shouldnt drive it til its been fixed
its possible you have more than one problem
start with the simple things.. grinding noises from the brakes usually means the brake pads are worn out and the metal backing of the pads is rubbing on the discs.... carry on driving and youll fook the discs aswell if you havnt already.

have your 3 skilled mechanics actually looked at the car or driven it?

It would also help if we knew where you are, just in case a member is local to you and can take a look at the Disco.....

Check your brakes if you can. Dont blame mechanics, they're bussinessmen you'll only get help if you pay for it but help yourself actually get in about it and look see whats happening under there, i know its not funny calm yourself, these guys want to help you, good luck

Edited for grammar, OMG, what a mess.

Taking it to 3 mechanics suggests ya driving it.Or do you use a transporter to get it around?
Google Nigel Gresham.
