It failed on brakes being spongy. I have changed the rear cylinders and shoes and bled the brakes nothing so changed the master cylinder and servo and nothing again and have gone threw 5 litres of fluid still the same oh and front calipers where changed last year still spongy I'm thinking the front hoses as the passenger side has cracks all over it. Need this sorting as it's going back for mot next Saturday.

I have looked high and low and can't see any leaking fluid anywhere and the fluid hasn't dropped in the slightest since last mot and the brakes where cap then but passed last year.

Sounds stupid, but the calipers and/drums arent the wrong way up are they? I removed my calipers a few years ago, fitted them the opposite sides not realising the bleed nipple was on the bottom. When it should be ontop after i refurbed them. Allways had spongy brakes after that

Dont mean to imply youve done the same, but would like to make sure no one makes my stupid mistake

If the hose has cracks in it there's a probability that it's expanding instead of pressurising the system fully.

OOOPs too late think i have rebuilt my rear axle wrong b******s
did wounder why the drums would not sit right

If you're going to change them, the extra cost for braided hoses is well worth it.

Im a real novice when it comes to brakes. Hense my mistake of putting them the wrong sides. Soon learnt me lesson after gallons of brake fluid and f'in and blinding. A mechanic noticed instantly

I've been told by a mechanic friend that I still have loads of air trapped in the system and that i must open all 4 bleed nipples and keep topping up the resouvouir for about 20mins. then nip all the bleed nipples up and bleed them 1 by 1. Does anyone think that will work or not?

Hi yes I've got an easi bleed kit and have tried it just waiting for the front flexi hoses to come and try those with a full bleed but thought that letting gravity do a bit by trying to push all the air out. And sorry James what is m/c thanks.

No not yet only got 1 pair of gilbos . And I've changed the servo and master cylinder for a good used one but was exactly the same.

Well I've tried what the mechanic said to do and still the same so think I will try a new master cylinder next (brand new one). as somewhere is letting air in as I have a constant flow of tiny little air bubbles coming out the front drivers side caliper know matter how much I bleed it.

Yeah I think so as I don't think the pedal going to the floor would happen with the flexi pipes and if they where taking in air I'm sure they would leak to.
