Help/advice needed i got stuck!

Hi all
I have just purchased a 95 P38 DSE Auto, this is my first ever 4X4.
I took it down a dirt track near my place the day i got it and i think it did pretty good, however this afternoon i went down to the bottom of my field to get some wood and (please go easy on me this is my first 4X4) got stuck in the mud

My kind neighbour pulled me out with his tractor
Now a bit more info on the P38 the last owner said it has had the air suspension replaced by springs and the tyres are Dunlop Grandtrex (255/65/16) they are only 3 month's old.
I would like to know is there anything i should do to improve it's off road capabilities?
I feel like such a tit but really don't want to be defeated by a poxy field in my Range Rover

Change the tyres! Learn how to use the air suspension and the transfer box, get good recovery points fitted and buy a long rope

try some proper mud tyres that may help, although looks like the ground was soft so you could be grounded on the diffs

Don't worry mate i got my first 4x4 stuck on a muddy field too......wet grass is the worst surface bar none.

I'm guessing by the depth of those tyres you just continued to try and wheelspin your way out? when maybe something else should have been tried. I think its called laddering when you are in mud but have a look on a 4x4 techniques site as i'm sure there is loads of info out there you can learn from. However, wet grass is evil.

The side steps won't help much either.

Thanks for the advise however i don't have air suspension so i don't think there's anything i can do there could you recommend any good off road tyres?

The ground was very wet we've only just got rid of the snow.
Being grounded on the diffs? would that be why my front wheels were spinning quite fast and my rear wheels were barely moving?

Not much point as he says it's on coils

Put the air suspension back, then at least you can increase the ground clearance, although if the diffs are in the mud it'll make no difference
looking at that ground you actually need a vehicle with caterpiller tracks:rofl:

Errr yes i did wheel spin a bit i knew i wasn't supposed to but easier said than done lol

Unfortunately i need the side steps as we have small kids that would just fall in and out of it if the steps weren't there

Well that time I had it hooked up on the chassis. If you're going to get stuck do it properly.

Just out of interest how long did it take you to get going? Only we have an annual award - originally christened the Ryder cup (can you guess why?) for the person stuck in mud the longest....

69 hours is the record so far can you do better?

69 hours!!! no i waited about 30 mins before going to get help.
