hellp overheated wont start 1995 discovery tdi ??????????

hi i am new to this site i have a 1995 m reg discovery tdi sorry about my spelling i have owned the car about 6 months great no probs i had had checked the oil and warter all ok i was one the motorway and could smell buning looked at my temp gage it was passed the red managed to pull on the hard shoulder and the car cut out i opened the coolant cap and there was verry little pressure and took off the oil cap it was smokeing a little about 2 or 3 minuites later there was an eruption of coolent and the engine felt like a kettle boiling had to leave the car with the AA (i was on my way to the airport) the car has been stood for a week tryed to start it and it would not start it just sent loads of smoke out of the exhaust can anyone help please

i would hazard a guess that your head gasket has gone. there may be other injun damage as well.
you need to get the head off and have a look.
