hello!!

Hello, I am new on this forum but I have been thinking about buying a Defender 90 for some time now . I don't have a ton of money so I was thinking about getting one in the price range of about 3000-5000 euros. I know that I won't have much option at that point but I wanted to know what to look for. Since most will be older, from the mid to late 80's from what I have seen, how are the TD motors on these ones? Most have the 2,5L TD is this a good strong motor, does it get many miles out of it, what are it's draw backs and what things are to look for as far as the body condition? Will I find a lot of rust, if so, where do I look? I am good at repairing things so if there is a little rust that is not a big deal, I will just take out the trusty ol' mig/mag welder and go to work but I am more concerned about the motor. Also, I was thinking more Pick-up, how do they compare to the normal 90s? Thanks a lot for your help!

Get a 200tdi. do you want a left or right hooker? you're gonna be spoilt for choice, dont worry about rust etc cos you can get a minter for the money you're thinking of using, just take your time choosing the right one, even if its a hardtop cos you can just take the roof off, put a tailgate on and off you go...

Look on ebay and see what you can get for that sort of dosh, then you'll have a better idea...but it has to be a defender...dont come round here looking for sympathy if you buy something else..
