Hi All,

My names John and together with my wife Tracey we have just purchased a landy called George. Totally new to the scene and Land Rovers so will be needing much help on the road to making George feel younger than the 22 years that he is.

The initial intention is to fix him up and make him a better place to be, ie reliable, clean and comfortable. Massive suspension and snorkles are not in the plan as I like the look of a standard defender so probably just mixing and matching parts from the later models to best effect.

The intention is to get to work and back and do some green laning at the weekends. I'll be initially concentrating on the structural integrity of the chassis and suspension with a possible engine swap to a 200tdi from the 19J in George at the moment. Yes, I know now that the 19J was not the best start but hey, George is George....

Thanks for listening.

Here is a pic of George after the Land Rover Max off road course....

i agree with you on the more standard look, you can still do so much with them to make them more comfortable and better looking without going ott on the suspension ect side, the last defender i had i fitted a 2 inch lift then regretted it and changed back to uprated standard height stuff, much better !
