Hello everyone my name is rob and I live in west Yorkshire my uncle recently left me hi s3 lightweight which I intend to get going .it's not moved since November last yr recharged batteries brakes are not seized it turns over but won't start I think there is no spark dizzy is dry as are the leads any ideas? Also can anyone reccomend a insurer and how can I find out if it's tax excempt many thanks

Could be
Corrosion in dizzy cap
Corrosion on rotor arm
Perished leads
Points corroded or gap slipped
Knackered coil
Water in fuel
These are just my usual old school petrol checklist items not landy specific.
Start at the coil and work forward checking for sparks and then on to fuel system

Hello and :welcome2: Love lightweights! I'd give it a birthday! New points, plugs, leads, condenser, dizzy cap, rotor arm. Then oil and filter and check levels in diffs trans and gearbox. For your immediate prob check the points and gap. They may need a bit of a clean/lube and maybe not opening and closing proper like:)

Hi there
It can only be Fuel or Spark, Take the coil lead out of dizzy cap put the lead on a spare spark plug hold the plug against the engine (with well insuated grips).
If it sparks check your plug leads the same way.

You may have to prime your carb with fuel if it's been stood for a long time.
Hope this helps
