Hello and morning all.

My name's Chris and as i've just joined I though i'd introduce myself.

I bought my 90 SW Defender TD4 last year after having a thing for short wheel base models since I was a kid, which was not helped by my dad making me one for my action men :D.

I've had a couple of niggling faults, which the dealer failed to sort, even after I told them exactly what the fault was, still no surprise there!

I have just come back from hol's in Kent where I did over 800 miles, but the last couple of days I felt that the brakes didn't have quite as much stopping power as they usually have, then I found that the hand brake would not bite at all, unless I was parked on the flat. I looked underneath yesterday and found that the brake pipes seem to be leaking in the area of alongside the chassis, behind the drivers left buttock, or thereabouts.

Not sure if both faults are connected, but as it's still under warranty i'm going to ring the dealer in a bit, for what it's worth.

Anyway, back to me. You can see most of my interests in my profile, but shooting, mostly air rifle target shooting and rimfire target shooting is my main hobby these days, but I also do a spot of fishing now and again, although I haven't been this year. I do photography too, but the shooting has took over a lot of my spare time in the last three years.

Having said all that, if i'm shooting i'm in the 90, which is called Michael, and whilst i'm doing this I sometimes take a few photo's, so a lot of the time i'm doing more than one hobby at a time :).

That's all for now.

Cheers!

Chris.

Thanks both.

I've been giving the site a good read the last couple of hours. Must do a bit more off road and green laning than just the half day course at Eastnor Castle.

Chris.

The 2 won't be connected (unless they've hydraulicised the handbrake on later models, which I muchly doubt!!) Get the stealers to replace ALL the brake pipes under the sale of goods act; not fit for purpose (not to mention downright dangerous!! - Did they sell it with a new 12 month ticket???) The handbrake's a different animal entirely, but like BoB says, post in the 'fender section and you'll get all the advice you need (and all the ****-taking you can handle!)
:welcome2: to the Zone! :D

Bloody Stourbridge dossers keep breakin motors:rolleyes::D:D

:D

Careful now, I think you may have been spotted in the area a few days a go :p.

Just to close on the matter, a seal has gone on the transfer box, leaking oil onto and into the handbrake drum/shoes and flinging it around a bit.

I'll post some more details in the relevant section.

Chris.

yay! lucky you!
it's not a difficult job to do, but again, if you've just bought it; then take it back and get the buggers to put it right (and tell 'em you want a new drum, cos this one's contaminated with EP90)
