Hello all, Just a little about my SIII

Hi all, At the beginnig of last year i had put a thread in the "lost landys" section of LRO looking for my old SIII. Well i have found her . She is in a bit of a state and has not been on the road since i had her last which is around 7 years ago. She has a fault which is why they guy is selling her, Good thing for me is i was the one who created the fault when i installed the engine (early 12j 2.5) but it is nothing major to fix (about £25) ill tell you all about it when she gets home. Any waythere are a few parts missing from her as she was used as a shed for the guy and he took bits from her for his running landy. So basicaly after getting back in to landys 7 years on, I am wondering were the landy parts places are in and around Sheffield these days ?

The great thing is the wife is more then happy to get her back because

1) I am paying lest then a quater of the price she went for

2) it has some history behind her because if it was not for her me and the wife would not have met.

3) She was mine and my dads first car.

Well here she is Betty's home (been here over a week but been on hol). Just a few pics to share with you.
She needs some love and attention and like any woman/land rover, plenty of cash spending on her.

probably the closest parts place to you is cavendish motors in chesterfield but he doesnt always have what you want in but he will be able to get you it or theres paddock spares at matlock

looks like a decent motor

yeah she looks nice - that rear spare wheel carrier spoils it thought - think you should let me have it (mines swb and not a lot of room in back), good luck with it.....

Ha ha, the spare is in the back of it, it has damaged the door abit, think that will be my first practice with the mig.

the burning question is did you pay the same to get it back as you got when yer sold it or did yer pay less just a querry as im waiting for the dvla gerrin the info on mine i want back

Swapped her for a VW transporter T25, Some one crashed in to the side of the T25. The insurance gave us £1850 and gave us the van back, we put the T25 on ebay and sold for £1595 :D Bought betty back for £200 :) gave the guy £20 for towing me a awkward 8 mile journey.

:( i thought mine had to be honest, she appeared 3 roads away from were my dad live's. I asked him a few times if he would sell and he said no, any way we kept our eye on it and one day he saw my dad and said he wanted to sell as he want not able to get it running and he had tried everything (he knew i knew what was wrong).

Said he wanted £200 for it, i did not even bother to knock him down. Got her home, gave him the cash and signed the log book. He asked if i could show him the fault. Went in the back took of the plate for the tank fittings and connected the diesel pipe to the tank :D. After having his 300tdi starter repaired (he took mine off because his 300tdi starter was borke) and see fired up first turn.

And as they say "the rest is history".

mine had no faults exept the smell of sheep **** if yer leaft it in the sun for a week

the reason it got sold in the first place was the missus at the time didnt like it and sold it behind me back while i was working away

i came home to find shed part exed it for a ****ty fiesta 1.1 pop and £400 cash comeing my way

that relationship lasted bout 4 minutes after i got home and found out (shes bloody lucky she survived the wrath of my anger to its full extent) the fiesta wasnt so lucky i torched it outside her mums house

she never told me who or where it went to and still wont to this day the b1tch:flame2::flame2::flame2:

I'm sure they will tell you. Think £15 to find out is worth it.

oh well good to see an old friend back in the family, I was looking for my old 109 but she has disapeared, proberly rotting in a field somewhere, good luck with the restoration, I found a couple of good suppleiers on flebay, alweays worth a try.
Good luck with the rebiuld!

You obviously have more experience than me.
Your engine lift is rustier than mine.

The engine lift has come in handy, it put the series 3 box in the 2A (Elizabeth), and put the 2.5 12j in my S3 (betty). We halso have a MK1 transint camper which has the 2.8l V6. Going to drop a 2.5D in to.
