Well, the forum header told me to introduce myself, so here goes...
I'm James, the madly-grinning owner of an 08 Defender 110 (four weeks in and still like a kid at Christmas). Been saving and searching since I was given a Land Rover Experience Day voucher back in 2008 and decided that now's probably the last chance to get a really good deal before the market either exploded or collapses in a few months when they stop making them. Got a ridiculous deal from an acquaintance who was upgrading to a brand new model and was happy to take the PX price in a private sale - meant my budget could stretch from a mid TD5 to a Puma
Previous experience includes helping rebuild a Series 3 SWB (nearly 10 years back though), misc spannering on knackered motorbikes and a lot of robotics and electronics projects. The dream is, unsurprisingly, to get another Series 3 project.
It's just me and the missus at the moment, and the plan is to haul kayaks (mine), horse boxes (hers) and fit a cunningly constructed removable bed to use the back as a camper. Once it's ready it'll be off on some overland treks, with as much mud, snow, hills and rocks as possible.
Just waiting for my GLASS membership to come through and I can get some practice on greenlanes and mild pay'n'playing! Responsibly of course...I'm a walker too...
