Hi there folks,

Greetings from sunny Lancashire, im currently looking to buy a Defender 90 in the next month or two, I've test driven a few and slowly narrowing down exactly what I want. :)

So far I've ruled out 110, Soft/Canvas roof and "Maxxis Creepy Crawler" tyres.

My current favourite is a £5500 1996 Defender90 300TDI Country Station Wagon in great condition, but 270k+ miles on the clock, which puts me off.

I am wanting to use this as a daily driver but want to use it for the occasional off road experience. Ill only be doing 6-10k miles per year and have a couple of other cars for if I do manage to break the Defender.

Anyway, thats me looking forwards to making a purchase and getting involved. Darryn.

Welcome mate.

Good to see another possible 90 driver.

Cheers for the welcome folks. :)

Been test driving a few more and now my favourite is a £9500 2003 Defender90 XS TD5 station wagon with 140k on the clock but in very good condition, only thing stopping me is the low-ball valuation of my trade-in. I might sleep on it and make a counter-offer in the morning. :)

Mines done 170k mate and still going ok. Well apart from its about to have its third engine :D

Finally found a Defender90 for the right price, condition and with the right trade-in value against my old car...

So here it is, 1994 300TDI, its quite standard at the moment, a bit of rot on the door bottoms, but otherwise seems farily decent for a 19year old car. Pulls well, handles the roads and dirt lanes around here fine as well.

hi mate 200 or a 300 tdi all day long you can work on them your self easy.but if you do a lot of motorway miles then td5 for crusing speed.my 300tdi county has 250.000

Very nice.

Needs real tyre though, at least 7.50x16s from a 110. I always feel the small tyres make the swb land rovers wrong. be they 88"s or 90s.

Welcome. Looks like you found a nice fender there, I would get a second set of wheels and tyres for playing in and keep them for road use. Look like Michelin tyres to me, got a set for my rrc for on tge road.
