hello and help

I live in the US and have a 97 defender v8 automatic
Amongst other problems far more serious and expensive that I have, one bugs me most. The radio cassette installed upright ie vertically in the centre console was flooded when the sunroof was left open. I have yet to replace it as no cd player I can find will play installed at that angle. I have tried and returned two that both promised excellent stability...
I have searched in the UK when home and have been told to simply install a radio, and put a cd changer under the passsenger seat. Is this my only option?

Good point wilts .

Try ALPINE cd/mp3 head units never had any probs with them + never jumps even off-roading and the rough stuff .
