Hi all

well i have owned a 3 frontera all have been great, but its time for a change

i have a budget of about 3k to get a free lander has anyone got any advise on which to go for or avoid ? i hear the T4 engine is good but not sure if i will get one in my budget ?

am i right in thinking the free lander is permanent 4 wheel drive ?
and what are they like off road and more in the snow ? i live in a very hilly area and when the white stuff falls i need a good 4x4 to get around.

thanks in advance for any advise and help

:welcome2: to the Forum and thank you for taking the trouble to introduce yourself.

May I, as someone who survived here for a few months, offer a few friendly words of advice.

Firstly, your posting title "Hi all thinking of a freelander".Thankfully we're not. All thinking of a Freelander, thats is. In fact,it's like walking into a Chapter meeting of your local Hells Angels and shouting Oi, Gayboy mine's a Babycham and is that your scooter outside? Be careful to use punctutation and correct grammar in future i.e. Hi all, I'm thinking of......

The trouble is this forum is populated many different types of Land Rover drivers, which includes Defender Drivers; Discovery Drivers; Range Rover drivers; Series Land Rover drivers and Gaylander drivers. Sadly, for you, the last group are tolerated because they have at least got the manufacturer right.. Heaven knows how they would treat a Gaylander owner who thought Frontera's were OK.:D:D:D

I suggest you re-post your questions in the Freelander aka Gaylander section, where I hope you get some sensible answers. I wouldn't know if they are a helpful bunch in there as I daren't enter it.

Once you have established yourself you might then feel brave enough to visit the Anything Goes section, BUT if you do, only admit to owning a Land Rover (leave the type as a secret) as I only know of one Gaylander owner who regularly visits there. All the others have disappeared from the face of this earth (well this forum at least)

Welcome again

SNOB

Qui? Moi? Perish the thought - merely jocular banter.

Don't worry, I think you'll be moving up the pecking order once there's an Evoque owner on the forum.

Two areas I know well, neither have safe parking for Defenders though :(

I wouldn't know;), although I did know of one family from the Manor who could always park their Range Rover safely and leave their keys in, knowing it wouldn't be stolen. Even the bravest local scroats valued their kneecaps too much.:eek: The last I heard, 3 of the brothers were doing serious time, with the remaining brother and cousins running the "shop".

For 3k your taking a punt anyway. Depends how good you are at rebuilding engines. Go for it iv'e had three and enjoyed them all!

As youve probably guessed by now this site is full of mad self opinionated half wits. Why anyone would want a Disco Duck over a Freelander beats me. You want a Freelander go for a Freelander. Great on and off road and better looking. ;)
