Guess I'm probably one of a very small group (if indeed there are any others) who is waiting for the delivery of his second Freelander 2 HSE TD4, having rejected the first example which I collected on January 31. Having broken down in it on the day of delivery and 10 days later, there was no way this was going to continue and it had to go. If anyone is intersted in the full story let me know, and I will reveal all!!:)

OK as you insist! On the day I collected it all spangly new from Taunton, I got home to Bristol and the low fuel light was on with a range of about 30 miles left. Filled it to the brim at my local Tesco and then set off on to the M4heading for London. After about 6 miles the fuel gauge showed empty and the computer showed I had a range of 0 miles. After another couple of miles just as I was coming off the M4, all power seemed to be lost and max speed was 50mph. Rang the dealer in disgust who promised to get back to me. After 10 minutes I restarted the car, the fuel guage shot up to maximum and I drove off to find full power restored. Car made it to London and back with no further problems. A couple of days later as I was driving along, the car started locking and unlocking itself with no intervention form me!! Took it into local LR dealer who traced the fault to a chafing wire behind the glovebox. A couple of days later when returning home from a trip to Cheltenham, the fuel gauge shot down to empty from half a tank. A few miles later power went again and I could do no more than 50mph. A few miles later and the car starting missing as if it truly was out of fuel. Stopped and called LR. They said they would be out in an hour. After ten minutes or so I restarted the car and gauge returned to half tank position and full power was restored. As I drove home the gauge dropped to empty again but no loss of power.
Car went back to local LR dealer again on Monday 12th and as far as I know it's still there now. I contacted my supplying dealer and expressed my dissatisfaction with this car that had cost me just over £33000 and demanded a replacement. To their credit, they agreed without quibble and they have now sourced an identical car to mine and I will be collecting it on an 07 plate next Friday. Hopefully this one will be OK.
