by a set and keep them with you;)

There are 2 problems with that.....
1) if you have a spare part - it will be something you havent got that breaks.
2) Its Ok having the part, but then you need a fully kitted workshop to fit it.

As stated above, we were concerned that if the rear bearing had seized to the stub axle, once we had the hub off we didnt have a mobile grinder to cut off the old bearing.

Call LZIR as lots of peeps have the kit;) If you had parts on board it would make for successful rescue. half the issues is having the parts on hand was me thinking. bearing and UJ,s on board, with a fan belt can save the day.

We had the parts. I took a complete hub with me, but you try cutting off an inner wheel bearing that has welded to the stub axle, by the side if the road. It would have been easier to have got it back to my mates place, but Poppy was happy to continue after we had done what we could.

Your fears were correct, and making sure I was sat down to listen to the garages prognosis, which was a correctly diagnosed problem as above, it has destroyed stub axle spectacularly plus hub and was a scored mess of mangled bearing

Glad help was at hand for you! this shows what a fab bunch are on this site.
Sorry to here about the damage though all added cost, as already stated also shows what a bunch of cowboys are out there taking hard earned money for doing a ****e job.
Think we need a thread on recommended workshops in different areas stating why they are good and what work was done well?
Or is it easier to name the ****e ones? (lawsuits a prob I guess!)
