All done, sounds wonderfull, even with the standard middle silencer in place, can really hear that refined, strong V8 noise, as appose to the muffled, strangled sound of the stock manifolds and cats.. Well im very pleased, although my g/box X/member aint going back on. Missus has perked up though so alls well.

You may need heat shields around your spark plugs and high temp plug wires

theres none on standard cast iron manifolds, only ones with shields are P38 and onwards I think

The EFI has a shield on starter motor too though but not seen any others with them for spark plugs other than P38

cast iron get rid of heat quicker than steel, that is why cast is choice for factory headers

yes, that got pulled out of shape and manhandled off. might straighten it and refit now you mention it.

I believe one is supposed to use head studs and brass nuts with these headers, certainly they are recommended(supplied, I believe) with the Ashley offering.

stainless and coppercote. Brass will rounds off when you try to remove them

yeah studs is the way, rimmers have them if no one else

Yeh, next time they come off, I'll get a stud kit in, cheers fellas.

guys guys guys

the hedmans are designed for early range rovers which have the pipes running over the crossmember, whereas 3.5 disco onwards and 3.9 rangey have the pipes underslung

i took mine out, cut it away and welded in a piece of 60mm box, job done.

i have run hedmans for ages with no heat shields no nothing on anything, dont like heatshields at the best of times.

just watch out for your fuel pipes and starter cables getting close :)

Quick vid of the headers and the sound, Will be much nicer with a better glasspack, for now, the old TD5 one i had lying about does the job.

MrNoisy, looks like we are the only two people in the world with hedman headers on a Disco, (on youtube anyway)

YEAH MAN

That sounds well!! :D

What tyres are you on?! Seems to go well/get through the gears damn quick, mines about half the pace of that I reckon! :D

Standard 235/70/16's, I asked you on youtube about road runs a month or so ago, mines only done 96k and is a 3.9 so quite lively :)

Ah ha so you did :)

Yeah I keep meaning to empty all the stuff out of mine and go for a drive, but then I guess I've still got nearly 500kg of steel bolted to it so it would still be heavy :(
