You had me going there for a while! I know you dont have one cos you have a Citroen Muriel or summat. I don't know about 69MPG - I take manufacturers economy figures with a pinch of salt. A 300TDi Disco should do 47MPG according to the handbook! After refilling the Focus, I drove 205 miles and it took 19L to fill up which equates to about 52mpg - and that was mainly local trips without trying to be economical. An added bonus is that being black and a fairly large estate, I can moonlight with funerals.

Come back Disco - all is forgiven! would you believe it - battery light came on last night. After half an hr driving the power steering packed in too (apparently its electric) and this morning had to get AA out. They reckon its the alternator. Cost anything up to £300! luckily there is a warranty but means I have to get it back to manchester. Do you reckon if I charge the battery up and drive in the daylight therwill be enough charge to get me there?

Yes should do you could always throw a spare fully charged battery in the back just in case 1 battery isn't enough.

Got there no probs - alternator started working again once I was on the M56! Anyway they put a brand new one on. But left a turbo hose loose which blew off on the way home and reulted in clouds of black smoke and a max speed of 60. Luckily my land rovering experience put me in good stead and I was able to quickly repair it and get back on the road again. I was wondering wether its worth blanking off the EGR on this too or do ya reckon the lectronics might not like it?

The cars 4 year old and nothing in writing about a warranty. After the alternator went I just assumed the garage where I bought it were under obligatiion to fix and they didnt argue with me. I read somewhere that there is a basic 3 month warranty unless it is 'sold as seen' but not sure of the legality. BTW Raz I still have the rear door card in the garage, I wont chuck it - just give me a shout when your in the area and its yours.
