Heating problems with my Disco 1

Hi all hopefully sum 1 can give me sum advice on my problem? my engine temp gets up to just below the halfway mark on the temp gauge but hot air does not blow out??? (that's when vehicle is stationary) when im out and about driving in it it does blow out hot air - but not great - ive changed the thermostat but its seems not to have made 1 bit of difference. The thermostat that I put in looked slightly shorter than the 1 that I took out but I put that down to being a Unipart thermostat or maybe the owner b4 me had the wrong 1 in and the problems always been on-going. Also when the heater does blow hot air whilst driving around it will start to blow cold air for a bit then will start with hot again???

I hope there is sum one out there that can help me and look forward to posting more items on here as I build my experience up with working with my Disco

bleed the system theres air in it

Need to park with the engine up hill or on ramps. I find both of mine get air locked in the heater matrix when on the level. get the front up then bleed it, it should clear easy enough
