I ran my Mitsubishi colt on a 80/20 mixture of used vegetable oil (specifically sunflower oil which had been filtered through a 10 micron filter in my garage) and diesel for about 12000km (80% veg oil). Built out the injector pump afterwards and had it checked...there was no problem. It was an experiment. Today 70000km later the mitsubishi is still running on diesel without any problems. I now got me a defender 130 with a 300TDi engine and might consider running it on oil as well.
The oil is thicker and causes trouble with the starting on cold days, but if you can heat the oil fuel line before it goes into the fuel filter the viscosity is reduced and flows easier.
The fuel consumption stays the same.
Dont use oil made from beans or other, it could be acidic and ruin your injector pump.
