just wonderd is it normal for heaters to take so long to heat up i can drive my landy 30 odd miles befor heaters work or temprature guage moves this is on a zu zu engine that has no cooling fan and still never overheats just sits under a qurter on guage even after 300 mile jorney just never gets hot only luke warm

Sounds like your thermostat is jammed open. Don't know exactly what engine you have but it should take no longer than 20mins and cost less than a fiver.

My TD5 takes 7 miles to get some heat in on a cold day. The controls are fecked but the heat does come thru evntually.

I'd swap thermostats and see if you can get a cooler one that will open earlier. Overcoolling kills.

I used to ride a motorbike to work now i've got the landy i was colder than i ever was but i connected up my KLAN heated fleece up to the battery. Start the engine plug it in 20secs later nice heated fleece, and no need for the heater to be on,

Toastie everyday
hope it helps

If I get straight onto the dual carriageway (ie run under load) my Td5's heater will be kicking out toasty air in 5 mins.
Stop-starting up to the 30 limit in the suburbs takes maybe 15 mins to get any proper heat, maybe 25 mins for the temp gauge to approach normal without sustaining top gear for a short period.
I've never left it ticking over on a cold engine long enough to know whether it ever actually warms up at all on tickover lol.

Cold climate pack works nicely I must say :D

Those KLAN heated gloves are a good bit of kit too.

What is it ? I start mine 10 mins before driving, only have 6 miles to the office and it just about thaws me out by the time i get there. I have blanked off 90% of the rad and its a little better. The Griff is warmer with the roof down !!!!!

Sorry, forgot to say i have an XS with h seats and h screen, thought there was something i was missing ! I will look at tinkering the 90xs, i have a Griff 500 that now does everything it should !
