Heater slider switch

I've just purchased a very nice disco 1 after selling my freelander but I cannot turn the fan on so I'm thinking the switch needs some attention, my question is how do I get the switch out the dash?

Remove the slider knob, pull the rotary dials off to reveal screws, remove screws, remove face-plate then more screws..... simples or something live that, the exact info is in a Haynes or Rave workshop manual.

Fairly easy job. If you pull the 3 heater control knobs off and the slider knob, use a flat driver to prise if you want, just be careful not to scratch. you will see 2 screws behind the 2 heat control knobs. undo these and simply lift the front off. i think you can then access the switch in behind. if not, you will need to take all the screws holding the centre console out and remove it

My switch seems to be working ok now as it's making the solinoid click but the fan is still not working??????
