Hi, even though i change the temp on the a/c unit it still seems to blow out at one temp (warm lol) is it likely to be a blend motor and if so where is the one i need to change and how easy is it to change, is it a dash out job or not.

cheers.

if its just on the passenger side then it will more than likely be the blend motor.

its on the left side of the centre console, kinda level with the bend/edge of the glovebox behind the centre/side panel. google it or search on here

theres a fella on ebay who will replace all 3 for 300 quid ish supply and fit, considering they are around 200 to buy from LR and it take him around 3hrs i reckon its worth not getting your hands dirty!! you can do it yourself and just splice one in there, there are walkthroughs and various stuff all over the internet on this.

Blend Motor Diagnosis and Replacement look here, the pic with the yellow 'pipe' in it shows where you need to be, thats the one that has gone on yours(and mine incidently) and needs replacing!

also, if you decide to replace it yourself could you send your dead one to me, mine has been dismantled by a previous owner and is incomplete, i want to test a complete one that is known to be faulty. see where the fault is and if its repairable. could save others some serious cash in the future. and possibly ourselves if any of the others go wacky! i'll refund the postage!

I'll be doing it myself as can't afford to spend much on it at the min so will be hunting around for a cheap one first, does any one know if they are the same on any other models rover 800 or something, also if i get a second hand one is it posible to test it first before fitting it, are they 12v ?

Gavbriggs- i will send you my old one but it mite be a while before i get round to doing it.

Apart from teeth breaking off the flimsy plastic gears inside, the common failure item is the small potentiometer which is the heart of the unit. I have tried to source a replacement from the likes of RS, Farnell, Maplin etc. etc. without success.

i think it may be the same one in the door mech?????? if it is it may be worth stripping em out.

i just wanted to have a look at a complete one, see where the faults are and if there are any replacement bits for them/bits worth saving
