Hi

Any chance of recommendations for a garage around the West Midlands that could quote for getting rid of a drives soggy carpet !!! by changing the O rings as a start. Heater works fine, checked water on routine checks, water missing out of header tank but not all gone. took it to my regular garage (who i trust but charge a lot for their time) No oil in the water, no water in the oil & had the cooling system pressure tested & pressure didn't drop ?

Thank you

It's a pretty big job to replace these, to save removing the dash someone made a guide showing where you could drill holes to access fixings etc but even with that its s good days work.

I'd be inclined to try K-seal first. It's only of the better types, iv known a couple if people to use it when they had leaky heater matrix's and it worked a treat. Could be worth a shot.

Cheers mark

How to stuff the P38 cooling system in one easy shot:eek::eek::eek:

Thanks you for the replies,

Yep, i don't want to stuff things up, I would prefer to get it sorted properly but i'd read there are work arounds to save time, would prefer the convenience of some where located around Birmingham to him to.

Thank you

Fair enough guys, I know it's not the right way to do it but it might have saved the OP a bill, as I said myself and a few others have used it with success, mine sealed a dripping o-ring and lasted over 4000 miles without a problem and one if my mates cars has fine about 15k miles and his is still fine. And when i say without a problem I don't just mean the leak coming back. I mean the heaters continued to work fine, there was no overheating issues etc.

look up a guide thread done by stufer i think pics and all.
Couple of hours work, just a bit fiddly but no fancy tools required apart from a long screwdriver, and a socket or 2.

Once you get used to the job,if the screw comes undone its about 45mins tops - no drilling holes or cutting ducts. If the screw wont come undone then it can be more of a problem...

Yea, I had to use a screw extractor kit as mine was stuck solid.

Guys, that great info thank you, i will check out the threads, I notice that on LHD's its seems easier to get to due to the lack of the steering column. Is it still poss to do without messing around with that on my RHD ? I can remove trim but its the more important things that i don't feel as though I'd be confident at taking off & putting it back correctly.
Thank you

Honestly, stufers guide will take you through easily, and if you get stuck ,just ask on here .;)

Im just back from Stufers guide. THANK YOU STUFER It looks methodical. (ive taken the dials housing out before now to change bulbs, so really just the side & top trim of the centre console on top of that (its the cutting etc that will require the beer just before hand i feel)

If it's any help i did mine , and a few others have done theirs ,without cutting the vent pipe in half.Just push it to one side and the other to get access, a bit fiddly but do-able.
