hello

got into my 02 reg td4 yesterday and turned the key heater blower came on then went off.

now it dont work at all, there is a click when turning it to #4

any ideas????

cheers

Not sure. There are relays in the fuse box in the drivers glove box (not) and some in the fuse box in the engine bay.

Dont both fues boxes have details of which each of the relays are on the back of the cover plate?

Where is the click comming from? I'm not electrical but won't that be the sound of the relay trying to energise?

The blower motor is powered by 2 circuits.
For speeds 1-3 the feed comes from F4 25 amp in the interior fusebox and through the resistor pack.
Speed 4 operates a relay and power to the motor now comes from F8 30 amp in the engine bay fuse box.
As the relay is working I would suspect the motor and it's connections and earthing.

i have check both them fuses and both are fine, where is the resistor pack located????

cheers

Not 100% sure but most cars have the resistor pack riveted inside the fan housing so the air flow cools them as they produce a lot of heat. If the resistor pack has blown, the blower should still work on full speed.

it was working on all speeds then just stopped, does anyone know if it could be the dial????

cheers

this may sound an obvious one but have you checked the plug onto the motor is still connected.

I kept knocking it out when resting foot near clutch on my old freeby but not done it on the newer one (as it is auto)

if you need to find it, it is at about 2-3" above the floor on the drivers side center area

driving down the M6 today the heater just started working on all setting, then when restarted my trip back it wasn't again

cheers
