I only get clear water dripping in when I use the A/C on seriously cold. It mostly drips through the OBD socket.

Call me thick, but I haven't started to look for the leak. Where should I start?

I mean, I "know" it's the A/C drains, but imagine I'm thick (doesn't take much)....where would they be and how simple is it to replace them?

Remove the side panels from the centre consul. Look under the heater unit and you should see two convoluted rubber pipes one either side. They should be located on the drain tubes at bottom of heater unit and then are grommeted out through floor. If they are split or damaged change them. Part number is AWR2722.

That's perfect, thank you :)

I had visions of removing the panel under the windscreen and fishing about for cracked plastic or some such. Land Rover likes to do stuff with brass and shirt buttons don't they :p

I don't think the aircon drains will leak on the ODB socket, would they? I'd be much more suspect of water ingress round the pollen filters or possibly the screws under the windscreen trim if it is dripping on the ODB socket.

On the subject of heaters ! Has any one done one on a classic ?...its a job i have to do on a 1990 vogue and im not looking forward too it :( difficult or easier than a
P38 ?:)

I've driven George through world ending rain and not a drip inside, but when the A/C was on last year, it was like a feckin rice paddy  And DEFINITELY coming right out of the OBD socket. I should imagine it's dripping off something else and running along the wires...

o_O

I would imagine that if the drains are blocked from the evaporator part of the box, then moisture could run back out the air intake, as no doubt the foam holding all the ducting in is pretty perished by now - so if the ducting is loose, then it will provide a path for water to get out... from memory, then air inlet to the A/C + Heater box from the blower motor on the passenger side is somewhere above the OBD socket...

That'd be it then. Doo, they're just little rubber hoses. Not even held on by a clip from memory.

Doo, as your not fighting fit yet sounds like its time to get someone else to lay under the car and give the rubber teats a squeeze, and you can stand there and wait for the yelp as they get an arm full of cold water:D:D:D:D

Ha ha ha, it looks like an inside job... Aint no one touching George's teats s'ep me :p

I'll have a look see and if I can do it, it'll get done. Hoping to replace the aux drive belt shortly.

We may be taking a trip at the end of May for my birfday, the big Hawaii

Have to drive 200 miles to the airport and wife said we'll take her car coz it's cheap.

I said we'll take mine coz it ISN'T :D
