got it wet... worked alright after it came out of the water and gradually blew less on the way home now doesnt seem to react blow at all.

my diagnosis would be the motor or the grub screw linking the motor to the fan. (if they are anything like the rangerovers)

does anyone know how easy they are to access and if its a reasonably simple job? ie dash stays in?

cheersss :)

The motor/fan is removed from below the heater and yes there is some work to do to get at it, it's all explaind in the LR workshop manual and even in the Haynes book.

was it hard to get to/how long did it take as i need to get to mine is squeeking

Take the cardboard cover off which is at the bottom of the dash in the n/s footwell, motor is right there, plug at the bottom. 3 screws/bolts to undo and it'll drop out. simples. should take about 5 mins to have it out.
