My disco has the old climate type aircon system fitted. It all seems to work fine untill i get on a motorway. Then the temp seems to just drop. i can have the climate showing 25 and the air is pretty cold. Any ideas???

if its caused by the air con kickin in rather than cold air from out side coming in then it could be yer interior thermo switch, which senses the air temp by 'sniffing' the air. if its blocked then it might be thinking that yer interior is hotter than it actually is . course yer A/C system might be different to mine and not have a sniffer switch.

Does the engine temperature go down as well? If so suspect your thermostat is stuck open, a new one shouldn't cost too much.

Cheers slob, out of interest where is the thermo switch? ive just had the headlining out and fount rather a strange looking thing attached to the roof at the front. I assumed it would have some kind of stat on it and wondered if that could be it.
The engine temp stays the same wherever/ whatever i do. Just been over to manchester in it and it was fine.... v strange

dunno where it is on your bus but on me jag its under the glove box. little black circle about 1 1/4" dia with holes in it. it has a little fan on it to suck in the air and a sensor. any dust,fluff,hair,jap cars or small children get sucked into it and block it.
Can't think why it would only do it on the motorway. if you find it, it only takes a minute to clean and check it
ave had a look in me big book and it int much help . i have another A/C book but thats in french and might take a while to decypher as they like to change the names of things.

hello, can anyone throw some advice my way on my heating, its a 92 j reg disco, with a re con heater that was fitted just less than 12 months ago, problem being is that it takes forever to warm up and only seems to give off any heat when ime on the move,and takes forever to clear the windscreen,it also only seems to work when engine temp gauge is at halfway ish, any ideas anyone ????? please

ok but the temp gauge works on the dash and ive never overheated
