I have a recently bought face lift TD4 freelander and the heated windscreen wasnt working when I bought it.

On investigation in the engine bay I noticed the windscreen fuse box had melted/burnt out, and even some of the wiring!!

I bought an after market fuse box and cut the melted wires back and made it all good as new, screen works fine now, but I noticed the passenger side fuse gets red hot and has even started to melt!
The wiring seems ok not heat or melting.

I've had all the plastic off to check the connections at the windscreen and it all seems good.

I think this is a replacement screen as it does not have a Landrover logo on it like all the other windows.

Anyone have any Ideas why it is getting so hot?

A fauly heating elements? You need to check the current they are pulling against a factory window.

a bit of a short some where do not keep it on you may end up burning your car like the tratters want us to do, either get it checked out or if capable check it out

Think it could be a faulty element as have traced wiring from fuses to screen and all good.
I guess the previous owner had a new screen fitted they should have chased up the fitter as the whole car could have gone up!

I will remove the fuse as its only the passenger fuse getting hot.

Check and compare the resistance of both sides. Access is via the scuttle in front of the windscreen, under the wiper blades. Failing that, measure at the non-feed side of the fuses, to earth, and compare.
