Headlights

I supprised smarty that you have had no success with "uprated" bulbs i've had Halfords +50% for the last 3 years and they do work, so bright my lamp guards now throw shaddows on the road.

Are the bulbs you have tried of a good make, are your headlamps ok not like your fogs and do you have a good electrical connections??.

just a thought - this is a Disco - rite?
the motor that is prone to burning out light fittings and light stalks?

how about checking that you dont have a high resistance somewhere?
thats why a lot of the light fittings melt.

Make sure all the contacts are good - or drive the lights direct from the battery via fused relays, so the switch only takes the switching current?

Can;t remember what the bulbs were now but were supposedly 40% brighter output? They aare better than the ones i took out and although i did have a problem with the lights fading etc this was solved by repairing the negative earth point on the inner wing quite a while ago now and haven't had any problems since, i think i will just try doing what was suggested in post 4 and see if that makes them better.

+90% bulbs are the ones to go for - every time

check the voltage at the headlight... i once had a fiat 131 with crap electrics.... somethinglike 8 volts at the lights ... fitted some relays made hell of a difference.
id fit a set of brandname bulbs.... the cheap chineses extra brights off ebay are total crap... ive got the expensive halfords ones now.


anyone want a set of xtra bright h4 headlight bulbs... only been used once for about half a mile... made in china, free on collection from from a bin somewhere in somerset...
