Driving across Spain in October and i see there are a few requirements for driving (warning triangle, hi-vis, spare bulbs etc etc.) but i have also seen the funny stickers that angle your beam the other way. Now i remember my dad using these when we went abroad but i cant see them working with landy headlamps.

are they a requirement? if so, how do i get landy ones? worse still i have the clear headlamps not the originals

any advice?

yer i know that goon. but they are a funny shape for normal headlamps. they dont loo klike they will work with round landy ones. what have other people done in the past?

G

Round landy h/lamps , bulb type ala series, or 7 round sealed beam or H4 halogen type, all you have to do is look at the lines on the head lamp you will see a horizontal line that has a step in it and goes thru the centrepoint you can then use tape to mask this area out , or go to car parts shop and by a little kit that has them already cut with instructions on where to apply them . it effectively masks out the part of the beam that kicks up on our kerb side making the beam flat topped so that it does not cause glare when driven on other side of road.
This can only be done on headlights that use a glass that is a lens type not on the later clear flat glass headlights that rely on reflector for beam pattern HTSH :)

The ones that goon put a link to was the ones ah used griff. All ah needed to do was cut the tapered bit back a wee bit and stuck them on. Ah got mine in halfords but ah noticed that the ferry terminal shop thingy had them for sale as well;) :D

Cover up this bit Gareth - either with the fancy 6 quid jobs or blak tape.

The black tape lets less light through, so you pays yer money etc etc.

go out and get a set of 7" LHD headlamps off a vehicle importer, i might even be ale to get some from work for you(i wil have a look and see if we can get them) then just swop them over while you are out there and when you get back put your RHD ones in job done no loss of light

Griffy. Are you intending to go abroad with your landy pretty regularly? If you are then your best bet is to get some M.O.D. spec headlights. they point straight ahead instead of angled like normal headlights so the military don't have to keep changing em every time they get redeployed.;)

cheers for the insight ratty. well once a year anyway. i like my new headlamps they are good, will prob stick to the stickers as it will only be for 2-3weeks ea. year.

1life - Yer i looked into that. apparently the spainish fuzz have a habit of stopping the brits and fines issued for not having all the gumf. 2 hi vis, 2 triangles, GB sticker, all spare bulbs, headlight deflector sticker thingy...

jeeeeeeeeezzzz
