hi, was driving the other night, pulled into services had a stop, then started my journey again. before the stop my lights worked fine but as i pulled out of the service station, i realised my lights had ****ed up. now i only had side lights, no dipped beam and if i wanted main beam i had to hold the stork in and only the left hand main beam would work. does anybody know what would have caused this. i thought maybe fuse etc but as im bk at living at college this week and not at home, im pretty stuck for advice from my bro and dad etc. any help would be much appreciated

good point lumpy... it could be the switch on the stalk as obviously it wont go in main beam if the dipped lights aren't switched on...

where to start then.. get someone to watch your lights while you wiggle the switch to see if they flicker on and off... can't imagine a switch would go total failure from working fine so there should be some contact there.. if they do flicker then get a new stalk... if not come back to us and someone will have somthing more useful to tell you

open the bonnet, and turn on lights 2 turn, then wiggle the connections at the back of the 3 pin connecter, an old faithfull problem and basically if they come on at all you need a new connector, i find an upward right push does it. sound daft. it works.

pull off the connector and put in some silicone grease, or vaseline to help the connection and stop corrosion

I find this works aswell, normally only my drivers side light that suffers!!!

I have had both problems, the connector tends to be only one of the lights if you have lost both then it most likely to be the cable in the stalk, open it up and I bet you find the black one has broken off. Just a little solder and it will all work again.

A disco I used to have used to kill the lights when you wnt from main to dip. Not funny when there's summat coming the other way on a country road. Used to have to pop the bonnet and give the connectors a wiggle. Never got round to sortin it out properly.

You must of jinxed me coz my Drivers light went last night now a wiggle fixed it hadnt done it in month's! The black connector is a weak point so a wd40 spray or grease works.
Also out of the blue my rear sunroof now works!!!!!!
But my bottom brake lights have stopped.
My lift pump seems to be clicking, BUT my central locking has fixed itself!!!! My clock light has gone off, but the trailer beeper has started working!

These cars are haunted!!
