Hi all

Having brought many standard and high performance bulbs, i was just wondering if anyone else has found a problem with them blowing quickly due to greenlaning and vibrations?

Anyone use a heavy duty vibration resitant bulbs?

OR used some neoprene gasket material between the bulb fixings to ease vibrations?

Or recomendations?

Thanks

Ed

never had a problem with headlights blowing on my gaylander. and it goes up and down some pretty rutted road at speed everyday.

if its blowing bulbs, i suggest you have another issue.

They were fine before the trip greenlaning, and was the next day, could be the quality of the Halfords high performance ones.

May try OSRAM Bulbs which we use at work for marine shipping and see how they perform.

Then if they blow quickly will dig out the multimeter and have a ganda.

I always use Osram Night Breakers. They last year's. I've been using them for best part of a decade. Not had a problem.
If bulbs are blowing quickly, check battery voltage with the engine running and the lights turned on. Anything over 14.4 volts would indicate an alternator fault.

had some ' heavy duty vibration resistant bulbs ' for tail/stoplights
one blew after a week ! ( since replaced with led types )

'neoprene gasket material' ? ..
i use 'contralube' on electrical connections .. including light fixings
'cause .. apart from its anticorrosion properties ..
it also resists vibration / physical shocks

My experience is that the cheap "RING" bulbs you get at garages and the Halfords own brand are rubbish. Paid £8.99 for a AA spare bulb kit and the headlamp in that lasted only 3 weeks. I have since fitted Phillips bulbs (which were actually Volvo OE and in a Volvo box - bought at an autojumble) and no problems since.

Cheers for the information,
should probably know to avoid halfords. Will look at getting a reputable brand and stop being a yorkshire man!
