Another weekend another load of skin missing from my knuckles and bad language passed on to my children.

I am closing in on the mot for my 2a, so replaced all the lights on the truck (rusted and not working, wiring pretty awful) Got to the front lights and ground out what was left of the bowls, dipped into box of goodies picked up yesterday to find new plastic bearmach bowls, come with a mixed bag of screws plates and some bolts none of which appear familiar to a farrier who frankly prefers nails.

No instruction leaflet.

Looked on bearmach site and googled it but no instructions as to which screw goes where and which way up particularly vexed by the headlamp aligning bits.

Help appreciated as am now just this job, brake pedal switch, and high beam wiring away form road worthyness.

Thanks in advance

There's an exploded diagram of the original headlamp fittings in the S3 manual - I think the S2a headlamps should be similar. The plastic versions I fitted to my S3 some years ago weren't too far off the originals.

Got no where with these bowls and lights, didnt think they would be this difficult , going to come back to it.

If anyone has a photo of the light and bowl in situ please post, as even with the haynes manual i seem to have bits left over!

Moving on to brain surgery and open heart procedures as it has to be easier!

From memory Ser III & Ser IIa lamps fit differently,as the IIa lamps fit fro the back of the grille panel

Don't 2a's fit in the wings? Perhaps the extra bits are for the difference between grille and wing mounting?

dear Matt, did u have any luck with these headlights as i hav just got to this stage and the f@~~@@@ lights are driving me mad

Show us a picture of what bits YOU have and we might be able to help. I just got hold of some "genuine new" Lucas bowls made in India. Came in a green box with a Lucas logo on wrapped in the Punjab times!

These went together quite differently to the old ones. Instead of three tacky little clamps to hold the bulb into the chrome ring there was a chrome ring and a big brass coloured back plate that is held round the lamp with three screws. This then pops onto three adjustable screws. All looks more sensible but will probably rust to pieces in about a year....
