Hi,

I need to lay my hands on a set of continental headlamps for my 2001 freelander.

Having scoured eBay I can see that the 58 plate headlamps appear to be the same shape with a different internal design.

Can anyone tell me if the 58 plate headlamps will fit my 2001 model?

Thank you
Bev

surely if it's a 58 it will be a freelander 2 ?

(as opposed to facelift freelander 1 which can be made to fit with a new bumper, a little wiring and fettling)

I'm a little puzzled by your question.

Is your freelander RHD?

Are looking for LHD headlamps? Or beam-deflectors?

I spend half my life and even more of my driving time in mainland europe - so have to ask, "Why do you need them?"

The organization I work for has various UK spec RHD vehicles now registered and insured in 3 European countries without changing any lighting spec.

As OP has said, 58 Plate light units will not fit a 2001 model.

My vehicle is a RHD but I will be moving to mainland Europe where I am required to register my vehicle there and submit for road worthiness tests. Sadly they will not accept beam deflectors so I must change the lights.

Regards,
Bev

Hi Bev,

OK - now it's clear. Depends which country - some are more picky than others (UK is very easy and accepts beam deflectors on other EC vehicles)

Best advice would be to try a 'previously owned parts dealer' (scrap yard) in your country of destination, unless you want to buy new.

You could always post a request for a swap on various LR forums with someone coming to UK of course.

Good luck.

S.
