hi all, i can't access rave at the moment so thought i'd ask you guys. RH headlamp works on high but not on dip. message centre says bulb failure but bulb is fine, swapped with working left bulb and still RH dip failure. Connector looks ok. Didn't find a specific headlamp fuse in owners manual. is this a common fault, any pointers where to look next?

No fuses, go back to the bulb holder and clean the contacts.

Yep, that's good for starters. Next, remove the headlamp connector and check with a test lamp/multimeter to see if you are getting power to the respective pin. If you don't get 12V+ at the pin, check the Blue/Pink wire at connector C120, pin 11 on the Becm to verify that 12V+ is present. If the dip beam switch is working on the other lamp okay, you may have a problem within the Becm. This can be checked with diagnostics as the dipped beam output can be "Forced".

ok will give it a shot. thanks for the hints guys. just a quick question for you Irish, you think if the becm isn't sending a voltage it doesn't know that and therefore thinks its a bulb failure?

MHM - so with you on that thought!

Probably, yes.

Try the voltage check at the lamp connector first as it's easy to get to.
The Becm connector (C120) is located at the front upper row on the Becm,it's a yellow 14 pin and is the 2nd one in from the floor tunnel (R.H. drive cars).
If you are not getting the output at the Becm, chances are you have a component failure on the power board.
It is possible to swap the power board with another as long as it's the same level ("H" or "L") and version, without needing a reprogramme.

You were right John, except for getting your left and right mixed up! :D It was traced to pin 4 on C189, blue orange from C113. Loose clip in the connector. Cheers!
