have noticed that when i fill the header tank to max over a couple of months it works its way down to min. I know abviously its not a bad leak, was just wondering if any of you knowledgable people would know why its doing this?

cheers

mine was the rad leaking at the top right hand corner as you look in the bonnet, then the stat housing starting leaking... there is a weakness at the back of the engine from the heater matrix i think, a search will reveal past comments.

Good luck in finding it!

For a start you could eliminate the coolant cap by fitting a genuine new one-£6 delivered from Rimmer Bros. If it still leaks start searching, check the passenger side footwell for dampness from the heater matrix.
My TD4 will go a year or more without topping up.

mine does exacly the same. i fill it up to full, 1 month later its on min. but it doesent go down any lower after that.

doesnt sound like a normal leak as it would be emptying the header tank if it was, almost like its got a crack in the tank. i cant fine no leaks ?

any ideas people ???

Same problem here on a v6. Header tank cap changed and hopefully it will stay ok. Been ok for the last 300 miles.
