Header tank question

that looks a bit low to me - is that where LR mount it?
I reckon if the water level gets low enough to trigger the switch, it is way too low - below bottom of main tank :eek:.

I agree. By the time the coolant is low enough to light the light, there is a real danger of drawing air into the system. If there is a sudden loss of coolant there is no reserve coolant to get you to park up safely before you run the very real risk of damaging the engine. The way Hippo has his sensor gives a greater safety margin.
 
Just to update, got a genuine LR one from Rimmer Brothers along with a few other bits including a new thermostat, but I'm working myself up to doing that job...:eek:
