ok well i tried to get someone to do an engine swap but nobody wants to earn some money ??? so i decided to remove the head on the replacement engine i have. (h/g went on my k series 1.8 and cracked the head)and put it on my block.the engine i removed it from recently had the h/g done as well as the timing belt,tensioner and water pump.when i stripped it all down the engine looks brand new, even the oil is still clean. My question is will the head need re-skimming or will i be ok to put it in my hippo and re-run it???

The head only needs re-facing if you can feel indented rings where the fire rings sit. If the surface is flat and unmarked, then the head can be fitted to the block.

What is more important is the protrusion of the liners on your engine !

Liner hight is very important, regardless of the condition of the head. It's easy to check using a straight edge and feeler gauges. All liners must be proud of the block face by 1 to 3 thou and if a MLS gasket is used, must also be within 1 thou of an adjoining liner. If the Payen BW750 gasket is used, then the liners just need to be proud of the block face by 1 to 3 thou.
