freelander head gasket i got a freelander 1.8 xi about three months ago realy nice car paid 5.500 for it on a( v ) plate its got 72000 on the clock so i rang around for a price to have the cam belt changed and a majour service and had a quote of £200 from a place that has a very good rep
when he had a look at it he said he wont do it because the head gasket has gone and he has made it a pollicy not to touch the heads on freelander because he cant garante the work
and he said that i would find it hard to find some one who will do it unless i supply a non poruss head

i have only ever heard this before on the old vm engine in rangerovers. it stands a chance of being right though cos freelanders suffer with headgasket problems. i would imagine the only sureway of doing it is through the main dealers but that would probably cost a fortune. ;)

(how's that for a nice thread from me ;) )

I must admit it took me a while to find a garage that would replace the head gaskets on my V6 Hippo. Found a LandRover specialist about 15 miles from home that done the job. Got them to change the cam belts and tensioners whilst they had it stripped down too.
