Head Gasket which make?

Morning gents need to redo head gaskets on p38 4.6 times change and wondered if there is a specific manufacturer or material type that is best - I dont want to have to do them in another few months ?

composite were used later but never new the tin was as an issue ,more block issues on any 3.9 and after

did you say before you prefer tin james? or was that for the 3.5 only?

I would say PAYN for tin ones?

i ve never seen the issue with tin lr did move over to composite as i said but was that to cure an issue nothing to do with heads,3.5s didnt blow gaskets often until aged but 10 years is long enough for any gasket ,composite gasket doesnt stop blocks cracking on 3.9s on .obviously 3.9 tin gasket fits 4.6 etc

So which is most reliable or perhaps should say more forgiving the engine did get a tad hot but she still runs - whistles a bit but runs no coolant in oil butt head gasket defo gone whats the chances of the block being warped? or is that a could be couldnt be

block face wont move ,but block will crack behind liner ,no gasket cures that

Yep been there had one of those hoping this is just hgf its a new engine bought from landrover 4 yrs ago for 1500 quid brand new full engine had to convert from thor to gems so hoping it was strong enough to take the heat we shall see when rebuilt must say before this it was a particularly sweet engine very very stable and smooth no flutters or fluctuations still good to get hands dirty again doing all sorts of other needed maintenance at the same time

id have gone for top hat linered block .lr blocks vary some crack on first start up some last 20 years

I used welseal on both tin and comp gaskets and both are still fine after a few years and miles so I'd recommend using it when doing them.
