looking for some advise just picked up a freelander just under two weeks ago i had a renault laguna and the turbo started to fail (typical problem on the 1.9dci engine) so i got rid of it as soon as it was diagnosed however today the freelandert grinds to a halt and we called out the rac who checks it over and diagnoised it as head gasket failure he towed it back to the dealer we bought it from who i must say was very good about it said they would repair it and even gave us a runaround to get buy as this dealer is not a landrover main dealer but a medium sized run of the mill car sales i dont expect them to put it into a landrover garage but use there local garage they always use so what signs have i to look out for that the car is fixed properly and not just a patch up job when i go to pick it up later in the week.

more often than not, when the head gasket goes on the k series engine it totals the block.

summat to do with the cylinder liners.

not really heard of one been sucesfully repaired.

how old and what milage has it done?

Bollix!
many have been repaired - liners dropping can be a problem - but they shd be checked - there are limits fur these things. Do a search - its been covered gazillions of times.
cheers for the reply im totaly lost here as i have no mechanical experiance beyond changing a bulb and any info is most appreciated.

change yo userCP to show where yu are based.

Yu mite find a local friendly who is prepared to help.

Download a Rave manual (search) to help yu.

Make sure it has the latest gasket and see if yu can push fur a new rail. Get the water pressure checked and sniffer test for combustion gases in the coolant.
