Nanocom covers several models, you buy what matches your vehicle and you receive the necessary codes to activate your vehicle choice. You can buy different codes if you subsequently acquire a different vehicle, for your car you need one for the 2.5d p38

was thinking about this one?

The most often used tool I have when dealing with HMS Unfixable is my Faultmate MSV. More than my wrenches and screwdrivers, and yes it works just fine and it's definitely worth getting but Blackbox has some weird ideas about what constitutes customer service. I don't know if they have changed over the years or whether there are alternatives- in which case I'd look REALLY hard at them- but yes, no faulting the Blackbox Solutions hardware or software.

Just be careful if you ever need to change any of the ECUs- you'll need a set of codes from Blackbox everytime you do and it's not an automatically generated thing.

Nanocom isn't tied to your specific ecu, just the model eg gems/motronic/edc

Dang.... did I ever miss a deal then!

I don't think they did Nanocom when I bought my Faultmate. The only choices I had were Faultmate with LCD or Faultmate that needed a laptop. This was a while back but yeah... I can't imagine being able to hold on to The Monster from the Midlands as long as I have without it.

90% of the time it's been to deal with the EAS and the other 10% to deal with the HEVAC system. It's only now that I have a burnt LCD on my speedometer that is the first time I'm using it for something else.

Either way I have found it mandatory to have your own diagnostic if you're going to play with one of these cars for any length of time.

Once unlocked for vehicle will work for any vehicle of that type gems/Thor/diesel.

Is how people on here use theirs to fix others

Can unlock other types once you have the unit

I'd love that but the lest time I checked they charged an absolute BOMB to unlock it. Any idea what it costs nowadays?
